AbbVie’s transformational $10M investment in City Year will help us increase our impact in the schools and communities we serve and ensure that more than 250,000 students annually have access to positive relationships and personalized learning environments that encourage them to persevere through challenges, build on their strengths and thrive.
As the anchor private investor to City Year’s 25th Anniversary Impact Initiative in Chicago, AbbVie’s $5M contribution will support expansion of City Year’s program in Chicago to 36 schools that serve 18,000 students.
In San Jose, California, AbbVie’s $1.6M contribution will provide opportunities for 1,250 students City Year serves in afterschool each year to be exposed to STEAM programming and build the digital skills needed to succeed in the 21st Century workforce.
The remainder of AbbVie’s gift will strengthen City Year’s National Math and Literacy Academic Services by supporting training and professional development for corps members and staff to implement curriculum, use assessment data to drive instruction and provide daily supports for 385 schools and 258,000 students by 2022.
AbbVie is inspired by the impact these organizations have on the lives of underprivileged students across the United States, and we are proud to partner with them on this mission.
